The hubby and I just very recently concluded a 2 week trip to the US to attend a wedding and visit friends and family. We stayed with my brother who lives in Connecticut but took the commuter train to the city almost everyday.
It was my 4th trip to the east coast and 4 years since my last visit and I thought the novelty of the city would have worn off by now (being almost out of my ahem – raging 20s). But no. I still love every inch of that cheeseburger-smelling town (I swear, the minute I stepped out of immigration, it smelled like cheeseburgers). I can’t get enough of it and I always leave with a feeling that I could have done so much more. Sometimes I wonder how anyone could ever live there. My senses would be so overstimulated and my schedule packed with all the things I can eat, see and do that my nerves would probably go haywire in a month.
The hubby trying to look casual. Hah!
The Eggs Benedict at Norma’s. Yep, they use pancakes!
The surprise hit: Super Cheesy French Toast with caramelised onions and applewood smoked bacon. Nom!
We were lucky enough to grab brunch at Norma’s on our first day in the city. We were there before 10 so the crowd wasn’t too crazy. Yep, brunch is now the highlight of our weekends no matter where we are in the world. (welcome to my thirties!) I had the famous Egg’s Benedict and the hubby got the surprise hit – french toast that tasted like onion soup in a desert (trust me, it tastes a lot better than it sounds!)
Will write more about our trip soon! Ciao!
